Bring your Kubernetes Storage to the next level: Sarkan is Now available as OVA on VCF Marketplace

Persistent storage for Kubernetes without compromise

Storage remains one of the biggest challenges in Kubernetes environments running stateful workloads.

Scaling persistent volumes, maintaining high availability, monitoring performance, and understanding infrastructure dependencies often require multiple tools and complex integrations.

That is why we are building the open-source Sarkan ecosystem — a Kubernetes-native storage platform designed for modern cloud-native environments.

Today we are introducing two key components of the ecosystem:

  • Sarkan OVA
  • VCF Sarkan Insight for VCF Operations

Together, they deliver scalable Kubernetes storage with full observability directly in VCF Operations.

Sarkan Architecture

The Sarkan ecosystem is built around three core components:

HostDisk CSI

Makes local storage resources available as Kubernetes volumes.

Sarkan SFS Operator

Automates deployment, scaling, and lifecycle management of Sarkan SFS components.

Sarkan SFS CSI

Provides native integration between Sarkan SFS and Kubernetes, including persistent volume support.

Combined, these components create a flexible and scalable storage platform for Kubernetes.

Monitoring in VCF Operations

Storage platforms require complete operational visibility.

That is why we created VCF Sarkan Insight — an extension for VCF Operations designed to monitor Sarkan environments.

The extension includes:

  • 19 metrics
  • 90 properties
  • 13 object types
  • integration with VCF Operations object relationships

This provides administrators with:

  • centralized storage monitoring
  • infrastructure topology visibility
  • dependency mapping
  • faster troubleshooting

Monitoring in VCF Operations

VCF Sarkan Insight enables monitoring immediately after cluster deployment.

Administrators gain visibility into:

  • storage components
  • infrastructure relationships
  • performance metrics
  • object dependencies

All directly within VCF Operations.
